New Patient Information

Advice for your first visit to the LEE ACUPUNCTURE WELLNESS RECOVER CENTER:
  1. Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your appointment time to fill out forms. This first appointment can take up to 1.5-2 hours total (Return visits generally last one hour).
  2. Wear comfortable, loose clothing so we can access your arms, legs, elbows and knees for treatments.
  3. A snack or meal an hour before your treatment is recommended.

Step 1: Check-In

When you arrive for your first appointment you will be asked to fill out a detailed Health History form, as well as, review and sign our Informed Consent and Notice of Privacy and Insurance Practices forms.

This is also a great time to use the bathroom or help yourself to some water in the kitchen before your treatment.

Step 2: Assessment & Treatment

Your initial assessment will be conducted in our private consultation room. An assessment at the clinic typically involves the practitioner reviewing your Health History form, asking questions, taking your pulse, observing your tongue and palpating specific channels and/or points that will help identify the correct pattern and best approach for treatment. This is the time to ask any questions that you have as well. After your assessment, you will be ready to move to our private treatment room.

When you enter our private treatment room you will be guided to lay down on the patient bed. Once you are ready for treatment, please:

  • Remove your shoes and socks
  • Roll up your pant legs and shirt-sleeves as necessary
  • Remove watches or anything that might interfere with us taking your pulse
  • Place your belongings in the provided patient basket on the table
  • Make yourself comfortable and Dr. Anna Lee will be with you as soon as possible

At the Lee Acupuncture Wellness Recover Center, needles are generally placed on your arms, legs, below the elbows and knees but can also be placed in other areas such as the ears, forehead or abdomen. All needles are sterile, non-toxic, and disposable.

Some claim that acupuncture is painless, but we prefer to say that it depends. While needles can usually be applied in a way that is pain free, this is not always the best or fastest route towards reaching your health goals. If mild pain, pricking or other similar sensations are an issue, be sure to let your practitioner know so they can take this into account when developing your treatment plan and applying your needles. After the needles have been applied most people enter a state of deep relaxation, often falling asleep. Treatments typically last from 45-60 minutes depending on the condition of the patient.

At some point you will feel the relaxation coming to an end, your eyes will naturally open and you will feel ready to get up. When this happens simply make eye contact with one of our staff members and we’ll remove your needles. Take a moment getting up. When you are ready you can put on your shoes and gather your belongings. Some people feel rejuvenated and energized, others blissful and spaced out, while some feel fatigued. It is not necessarily the same for everyone every time.

Step 3: Check Out
When you are finished with your treatment, please book your next appointment before you continue on with your day.
